Grants
Our grant program is one way that the Center helps staff members develop their own professional goals and better serve their students. At the present time, the NTC offers three different types of grants to support teachers as they change their practice, develop curriculum or create innovative projects and activities that have the potential for positive impact on students.
Curriculum MiniGrants
These grants ($25 - $500) support special projects that will enhance teaching and enrich the experience of students.
Funded projects have included:
teen-parenting workshops
a watershed study
take-home books with related activities for early readers
a bilingual literary journal

Professional Development MiniGrants
These grants ($25 - $500) support individuals and groups of staffmembers who want to examine their teaching practices and/or formulate ideas for classroom curriculum.
Typical projects include:
book study groups
conference attendance
classroom-based consultation
peer coaching

Best Practice MaxiGrants
These grants ($500 - $2500) encourage collaborations that address the NYS Learning Standards and support efforts to design, implement and assess replicable, innovative programs and activities aimed at improving teaching and learning.
Funded projects have included:
- cross grade-level project to develop coordinated, sequential lessons that teach essential skills while preparing students for NYS ELA tests
- a program to provide training and resources that improved communication and collaboration between teachers and teaching assistants.
